

![]() ![]() | AST FOR DRAMA STOCKTON-ON-TEES BOROUGH Anthony Gears MA born in Hindley near Wigan in 1959 and educated at Hindley and Abram Grammar school. I did a BA in Drama and American Studies (including the study of American Film and Drama) at Aberystwyth, University College of Wales followed by a PGCE in Drama in Education at the City of Birmingham Polytechnic under David Davis. I have worked with Dorothy Heathcote and my external examiner was Gavin Bolton. I have taught in Stockton on Tees since 1981. I have an RSA Dioploma in Drama in Education and worked with Tony Delzenne and Geoff Davies. I have an MA from Durham University and have worked with Dr. Mike Fleming. I also have an M. Cert in Media Education from the BFI. I became an AST in Drama for Stockton on Tees in 1999 and the Director of Egglescliffe Arts College in the same year. I initiated and has been director of Egglescliffe Youth Theatre since 1984. I have written a number of musicals and contributed to several academic magazines in cluding The Secondary English Magazine. I am an associate lecturer for Durham University where I teach on the PGCE English course. I was one of the initiators of the Drama Teacher's Association: North (DTA-North) which has been recently rebranded as TEACH DRAMA: North East England (link to new website below). I have suffered from three attacks of oral cancer in the last five years. |
